Job Title: Accounts/Finance Assistant

Location: Bristol

Salary: £25,055 to £28,253 Dependant on experience

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a Bristol-based national charity that supports people and organisations across the UK to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes. We do this by sharing our knowledge, practical experience and policy insights.

The Role

The role of Finance Assistant is an opportunity to help shape and support the implementation of efficiencies and formal processes led by the Director of Finance & Operations and the Senior Finance Manager.

Responsibilities include

  • Complete the day-to-day tasks of CSE’s finance function to include processing invoices and payments, issuing sales invoices, accounts receivable, managing aged debtors and creditors.
  • Produce, reconcile and submit, when authorised, VAT returns.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts including preparation of accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintain the organisation’s electronic and paper financial records in accordance with appropriate accounting standards and practices and support with the preparation of documentation and files required for the annual audit and other statutory financial reporting (e.g. charity commission).

Ideal Candidate

  • Maths and English O’Level or GCSE at a minimum C or equivalent.
  • Experience of using SAGE accounting software on a day-to-day basis.
  • Processes or the ability to learn the relevant requirements.
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards and practices, VAT and HMRC regulations in England.
  • Excellent abilities with Office products (Excel, Word etc) and Sage accounting software.
