Job Title: Commercial OE Sales Manager

Location: South Darenth, Dartford

Salary: Competitive + bonus up to 10%

Position: Full Time, Permanent

Role Overview:

Due to growing customer demand and company’s capability in this sector, this position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop in a unique role with both commercial and technical responsibilities.

This role requires an individual who will be able to demonstrate a strong grasp of OEM contractual and sales development work. You should have an enquiring mind and be willing to take the initiative, within the corporate guidelines, to sustain current business and develop new business, ensuring their customers are provided with quality products & customer service, further establishing the Brigades Brand position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and report monthly on a sales ‘pipeline’ of prospects and customers
  • Follow up sales leads by telephone, email, and with personal visits
  • Attend / work on the company’s stand at exhibitions and conferences as required
  • Agree sales targets with line manager, and work to meet these targets
  • Liaise closely with the existing aftermarket field sales team, so as to avoid duplication of effort and/or upsetting the existing very strong aftermarket distribution network
  • Telephone prospecting – mainly using the company’s existing database of fleet contacts
  • Maintain, on the company’s CRM database, an accurate and up-to-date record of all interactions with prospects and customers
  • Learn and thoroughly understand the products and services offered by the company, and keep fully up to date in this respect
  • Contribute to company development by bringing relevant opportunities to the attention of management

Education, Experience and Skills:

Essential:

  • Degree educated in Business management, Finance or Engineering discipline or similar qualification
  • 5-6 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including Maths and English
  • High level of numeracy and literacy
  • Above average computer literacy
  • 2 years or more experience in automotive or similar complex manufacturing industry
  • Experience in reviewing sometimes complex commercial contracts and a working knowledge & first-hand experience of OEM & Tier 1 business operating and product qualification processes or similar complex business

  • Ability to “close” a deal as well as maintaining ongoing contracts
  • Working and negotiating with customers to deliver profitable business
  • Successful team member but also able to take the initiative and be self-motivated
  • Genuine interest in modern technology and capable of quickly understanding unique selling points and product attributes
  • Self-motivated and takes full responsibility for the quality of own work
  • Flexibility to multi-task
  • Resourceful to provide technical and commercial support
  • Practical aptitude with methodical approach to detail
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
  • Eager to learn especially new technologies
  • Natural respect for company and colleagues
  • Good level of communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, management and colleagues
  • Very clear spoken English is critical

  • Flexibility to work occasionally beyond normal business hours when required

Desirable:

  • Industry Experience or Training from a major Automotive OEM in business management processes and product qualification
  • BTEC, NVQ/City & Guilds or similar qualification in electronics/engineering
  • Training in sales and negotiation
  • Prince 2 or formal Project management training
  • Interest in obtaining further professional qualifications e.g. CEng, MBA, Institute of Marketing
  • 2nd language an advantage
  • Co-ordination between different functions
