Job Title: Cricket Development Officer

Job type: 2 year fixed-term contract – 40 hours per week

Cumbria Cricket Limited is presently looking to recruit a Cricket Development Officer to work in the south-west of the county, primarily focussing on Barrow and the wider Furness area.

The role is split into 2 key areas: working with clubs, and the strategic school delivery around the needs of Inspiring Generations including coaching, leadership work, supporting and increasing the number of recreational club volunteers and transitioning pupils to All Stars Cricket, Dynamos, softball and Club age group cricket.

This will include working directly with clubs in the recruitment of volunteers whilst developing sustainable structures at clubs, developing and creating local leagues with Youth Associations and coaching within schools targeted around the club development that will be ongoing. The overall aim is to involve and retain young people in sport by ensuring a high-quality, enjoyable, young-person-centred experience and provide guidance on progression opportunities based on the young person’s interests and abilities.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent administrative skills.
  • Is computer literate and effective in the use of excel, access and other Microsoft programmes.
  • Has the capacity to understand the CTS programmes, including the new Key Stage 1 offer.
  • Has experience of partnership working and is able to make links with contacts throughout the area.
  • Has experience of working with recreational sports clubs.
  • Has the ability to differentiate in all teaching/coaching sessions.
  • Is an effective communicator with ability to persuade and influence people.
  • Has excellent presentation skills.
  • Has a working knowledge of School to Club partnerships and Cricket Development Pathways.
  • Is Child Protection trained and has a valid DBS certificate.
  • Is disability trained or is committed to achieving this within a short period of time.
  • Is tutor trained or is committed to achieving this within a short period of time.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership skills.
  • Has the ability to work independently and as part of a team with good time management skills.
  • Is able to travel independently between sites.
  • Is flexible and both able and prepared to work unsociable hours (evenings and weekends). Has access to a car and hold a clean driving licence.
