Job Title: Managing Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Location: Office based in Hull but visiting sites around East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

Salary: £30,000 – £50,000 per annum + generous bonus scheme paid quarterly + expenses

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Due to our continued growth and success we are seeking an estimator / quantity surveyor to join our team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to put their skills into practice and to make a real difference to the company, ideally looking for someone with drive, ambition who’s looking for a long term career move with the potential of striving towards a managing role.

Key duties:

  • To work with and assist with the day-to-day operations of the business including contract negotiations, project planning, ensuring quotes/tenders are checked and returned in a timely manner. Enquiries are answered, projects are run in a timely and profitable manner.
  • Responsible for carrying out Estimating and Quantity Surveying and tasks, setting objectives and monitoring progress.
  • Securing the best price that will win the contract in a competitive bidding situation, while ensuring that the contract can be carried out profitably if secured.
  • Ensure a proactive approach is carried out on quotes submitted with Follow up and tracking of quotes.
  • Ensure accurate Measurement and value of work is done on site. Review and evaluate costs, track changes to design and construction work and adjust valuations and applications accordingly.
  • Preparation of interim applications for payment and internal valuations.
  • Assist the accounts team with matching invoices to the correct allocation of cost to projects.
  • To lead and assist in dealing with contractual claims and final accounts and able to agree rates/prices without compromising our margins and to attend meetings and contribute to the resolution of commercial, contractual and construction problems and variations.
  • To be aware of and protect the Company’s commercial interests by pursuing prompt payments for works are executed. To negotiate and agree on final accounts whilst achieving the best possible outcome for the company.
  • To be aware of and preserve the Company’s good name in dealings with the Client, our suppliers and the public at large. Establish yourself with our clients and maintain and build working relationships.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role is an advantage, would consider graduate with a keen interest in the role
  • Commercially aware
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Hold a full UK driver’s licence
