Job Title: Financial Planner

Location: Bedford

Salary: Competitive depending on experience

The Role:

Provide clients with outstanding service including personalised financial planning advice to help meet their needs, ensuring fair client outcomes.

Proactively support the company’s Conduct Risk framework by following it. Help to identify potential improvements to business processes and communicate these to the Managing Principal.

Key core work areas:

  • Generates revenue producing opportunities to meet personal and team targets.
  • Grow the reputation of our Financial Planning service by developing and maintaining client relationships,
  • Gain the client’s trust to understand fully their personal and financial situation, needs and objectives to identify areas of financial planning advice (new and follow on advice).
  • Establish the appropriate level of service for the client to meet their needs explaining clearly the scope of that service and addressing any concerns or questions that the client has.
  • Ensure that all required information is gathered, returning to the client and/or existing provider where further clarification is required to enable appropriate research and consideration to be undertaken.
  • Formulate advice in accordance with our advice standards, processes and procedures.
  • Present advice to the client ensuring all communication is ‘clear, fair, not misleading’.
  • For advice outside of your specialism/authorisation, work with an authorised colleague to enable a suitable recommendation to be made.
  • Support other Planners in delivering Specialist advice to their clients for recommendations outside their authorisation.
  • For clients in an Ongoing Advice Service ensure that reviews are undertaken in line with the Client Agreement and advice standards.
  • Deal with Complaints and Errors and Omissions in accordance with the business standards ensuring fair client outcomes and that business requirements are met.
  • Ensure all work is in keeping with current Punter Southall Aspire advice guidelines and processes, business standards and that all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Following an advice check, complete any remedial action within the prescribed timescales ensuring fair client outcomes.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and presentational skills (client meetings, internal & external meetings/presentations).
  • Maintain your knowledge of the industry, market and technical developments/knowledge to ensure continued ability to maintain your trusted adviser status with our clients and to be able to demonstrate a high standard of technical competency and knowledge.

Knowledge & experience

  • Experience of working in financial planning services, in an advisory role.
  • Able to demonstrate a client focused approach developing trusting and credible partnerships with clients.
  • Able to build new business and establish successful client and professional introducer relationships.
  • Demonstrates a business acumen and able to recognise and work towards meeting the interests of both clients and Company.
  • Able to manage conflicting demands on time and to work to tight deadlines to meet obligations whilst ensuring excellent client service and fair outcomes.

Training, education & qualification

  • Good level of academic qualifications, particularly demonstrating a strength in English and Mathematics.
  • Qualified to a minimum of RQF (Regulated Qualification Framework) Level 4 (Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or equivalent).
  • Qualified to or working towards Level 6 Advanced Financial Planning Diploma (or equivalent). Chartered Financial Planner status.

Skills, abilities & personal qualities

  • Demonstrates integrity and professionalism and ensure fair client outcomes.
  • Demonstrate the Fitness and Propriety requirements for the FCA Certification Functions for the role to be able to pass the annual assessment and continue to be Certificated by the company.
  • Delivery of agreed individual target.
  • Generate revenue producing opportunities, including for other parts of the Group.
  • Existing client relationships are successfully maintained and developed.
  • New client relationships are successfully developed.
  • Customer complaint and errors and omissions are the exception.
  • Achievement of all KPls and conduct risk measurements
  • Observed client meetings are deemed proficient by the assessor and development plans put in place are followed through.
  • Hold a current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS)
