Job Title: Leisure Health and Safety / Trainer

Location: Harrogate

Salary: £26,999 – £28,785 per annum

Job type: Full time, Permanent (37 hours per week)

Closing Date: 17th June 2019

The Role:

In liaison with Senior Management, coordinate Health & Safety (H&S) across Culture Tourism & Sports (CTS) to ensure a standard and consistent approach to H&S is adopted. Organisation and delivery of training courses and programmes within CTS, HBC and external participants.

Job Duties:

  • Manages and coordinates health & Safety (H&S) across CTS providing specialist advice
  • Undertakes site visits to audit, monitor and review operational Health & Safety issues and procedures
  • Prepares reports, issues actions plans and ensures recommendations are implemented to ensure safe working practice is in place
  • Interprets legislative guidance and documentation to ensure standard practice across the service
  • In liaison with Operations Support Manager & CTS Management Team
  • Leads and coordinates Trainer Assessor group and ensures procedures, standards and protocols are in place to deliver on-going training programme effectively
  • Liaises with management teams to identify and resolve training needs to meet service requirements
  • Coordinates and delivers community and outreach work through schools, Crucial Crew etc.
  • Prepares reports for CTS teams regarding Health & Safety matters
  • Prepares, organises and coordinates a range of training courses to meet budget targets
  • Coordinates meetings, updates and paperwork for Trainer Assessor group
  • Reviews and updates format and content of new and existing training programmes and ensures that training records are in place and maintained across the service

Key Requirements:

Essential

  • Operational experience in leisure or related field
  • Facilitation and delivery of training programmes including First Aid, Manual Handling, NPLQ
  • Management and implementation of Health & Safety systems and procedures
  • Further Education qualification in leisure or related field. Full UK Driving Licence
  • Recognised Training Qualification
  • Recognised Health & Safety Qualification (level 3), First Aid at Work, Qualified First Aid Tutor
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and current issues in leisure management
  • Knowledge of Training and Development systems
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in leisure or related field
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to recognise and manage risk and assess priorities
  • Able to recognise, initiate and manage change in working practices

Desirable

  • Degree or Higher Education qualification in a related field
  • Further professional training qualifications
  • Royal Life Saving Society Trainer Assessor Qualification
