Job Title: HR Advisor

Location: Nationwide – Split between clients sites and the offices in Basingstoke (Hants) and Ashford (Surrey)

Salary: £38,000-40,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week Monday to Friday (9:00 – 17:00)

The company are a specialist provider of Employer Services. They provide outsourced Employer Solutions to clients in the areas of HR, Payroll and Health & Safety. They are part of a larger group who provide global HR and Payroll solutions to a wide and prestigious client base, with the head office in Hong Kong. They are a small but growing team with two operational offices in the UK (Basingstoke, Hants and Ashford, Surrey) as well as a sales & marketing office in Hereford.

They are currently looking for an experienced HR Advisor to deliver and co-ordinate HR services to all clients, ensuring delivery of a comprehensive and effective HR consultancy service, supporting business objectives.

The Role

This role requires the incumbent to deal with all aspects of HR and employment law, providing telephone, email and face-to-face advice to clients, ensuring advice is aligned to individual client company policies and procedures, employment law legislation and common law principles and best practice

The expectation is that this role will largely be focused on providing on-site support at client’s premises, which in the main are in the South East of England, but there can be a requirement to deliver the services in the Midlands and further. On non-client consulting days you’ll work from the Basingstoke and Ashford offices providing support to the other Advisors and Administration teams

Key Duties

  • Provide initial professional advice, interpretation and expertise on all HR issues to clients
  • Provide on-site support to clients, as required, to deal with a wide range of HR matters such as TUPE, M&A, disciplinary meetings and more
  • Identify opportunities for additional on-site support work with clients
  • Ensure clients are compliant with their Employment Law duties, or advised on any shortfalls
  • Drive initiatives to utilise HR best practice for clients
  • Anticipate and provide professional advice on the HR implications of organisational change, business development, project planning and leadership resources
  • Develop policies, procedures and processes as required and ensure compliance with new legislation and best practice
  • Provision of regular and ad-hoc reports to the business and clients
  • Embrace HR technology solutions and support clients who use the HR platforms
  • Acting in a proactive manner and building good client relationships
  • Mentor more junior team members and assist in their development
  • Ensure that all actions are compliant with GDPR and Privacy requirements
  • Attend sales appointments with Sales Director / Manager, as and when needed
  • Review proposal documents and contracts for prospective new clients and advise sales team on service provisions and fee levels
  • Proactively cross sell services to clients and capitalise on opportunities for additional revenue and business growth

Skills & Qualifications

  • Candidates need at least 8-10 years HR experience
  • CIPD or equivalent Employment Law Certification/Award or demonstrable experience in employment law
  • CIPD membership
  • Evidence of continual professional development in HR related subjects
  • High level of customer service and client focus
  • Commercially astute and confidently be able to participate in, and advise clients on, wider business implications of their decisions
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) enabling effective rapport with both clients and colleagues.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work methodically and accurately, and to work under own initiative
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Computer literate – especially with MS Office, internet and HRIS systems
  • Strong organisation skills: ability to prioritise effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to work unsupervised and support colleagues

All Candidates MUST

  • Have own car and clean driving licence
  • Be willing to very regularly travel to clients within the UK for consulting days/projects
  • Have 5 years proven HR Advisory experience, ideally in a consultancy role or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Be qualified to Level 5 CIPD or Level 7 preferred or demonstrable equivalent experience
