Job Title: ICT Support Technician

Location: London

Salary: £23,575 to £25,616 depending on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (30 days paid holiday including bank holidays plus Christmas shutdown)

The College is a highly successful and popular Catholic sixth form located on three sites in south east London. They specialise in meeting the needs of sixth form students, and have an established track record of excellent examinations success. Their Financial Status is Outstanding and in 2017 they were graded as a good college by Ofsted.

The role

An opportunity has arisen for an ICT Support Technician to join their ICT Team. You will provide 1st line technical support to users across all three College sites, to ensure the continuous availability of IT equipment. Recent experience of supporting the use of ICT and an enthusiasm for installing and configuring ICT equipment is required. In addition, good problem-solving abilities, excellent customer handling skills, the ability to work under your own initiative, excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach to work are key for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the ICT Service Desk Manager, to assist in the support of the computer network and associated hardware and software, so that it supports both teaching and learning across all College sites
  • Work with other members of the ICT Services support team to answer phone calls and deal with user issues, either face-to-face or using remote access tools, logging work using the IT Helpdesk
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user desktops, laptops, printers and classroom AV equipment
  • Monitor and maintain IT documentation
  • To take delivery of equipment, security mark equipment, and help maintain the asset register of all IT equipment
  • Work flexibly within the team to contribute to service development
  • Undertake administrative duties as required
  • Promote equal opportunities for students and staff
  • Undertake other tasks, as required by the Director of ICT and/or Principal, after due Consultation.

The Candidate:

The post-holder will be expected to have the following attributes:

  • A willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the College
  • Experience of working in a Help Desk support environment
  • Experienced using remote desktop software
  • Knowledge and understanding of e-mail, anti-virus and internet systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of installing and maintaining audio and visual systems
  • Proficient use of MS Office, Office 365 and Outlook
  • Good working technical knowledge of networks, PCs, Macs and the following operating systems Windows 7/10 and Mac OS X
  • Technical knowledge of current computer systems software, protocols, and standards and an ability to troubleshoot common issues with these
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and to establish professional relationships with a wide range of staff and students
  • Ability to ability to work proactively and under your own initiative, and to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel between sites and to work occasional weekends to support College public events
  • Awareness of the study needs and requirements of 16-19 students and the ability to work positively and proactively with students in this age range
