Job Title: IT Support Technician

Location: Liverpool

Salary: £20,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Connect is pleased to offer an exciting role assisting our IT Operations Manager in the delivery of excellent internal and external IT support.

In this role you will cover a wide range of helpdesk support tasks, for both colleagues and clients, for whom we deliver web hosting, web development and software support and maintenance services

Our clients are mainly from the public sector and include NHS organisations and government departments for whom we design and build websites, mobile apps, customer portals and intranets.

Our technical infrastructure comprises both Windows and Linux systems and services. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure the quality of services, including project managers, software developers and Linux administrators.

About the role:

  • Installation, configuration and repair of all computer equipment
  • Monitoring and maintaining in-house data centre and network equipment, ensuring operating systems are working efficiently, reliably and securely
  • Updating Operations documentation
  • Configuring new systems and updating configurations on the Windows platform
  • Helpdesk support
  • Logging and responding to requests raised by clients using the Zendesk ticketing system; coordinating colleagues to ensure client tickets are responded to and resolved in a timely, efficient and professional manner
  • Maintaining the backup regime
  • Preparing monthly service reports and incident reports for clients
  • Alerting the Operations Manager to any risks or potential risks across on our infrastructure and services
  • Work in line with our security accreditations and legal obligations
  • Any other tasks commensurate with the role

About you:

Technical Requirements

  • A robust understanding of networking infrastructure and system integration.
  • Experience in the administration of heterogeneous network environments with Microsoft Windows and Linux based clients and servers
  • Good understanding of core Internet technologies
  • Good appreciation of IT infrastructure components
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Good understanding of the Data Protection Act/GDPR
  • Previous experience working on a Service Desk or a similar environment working to SLA’s is advantageous
  • Experience with Firewalls would be an advantage
  • Portable Appliance Testing experience

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • An ITIL IT Service Management would be advantageous
  • Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Microsoft (MCP, MCSE), Linux (LPIC-1, LPIC-2) would be advantageous
