Job Title: Lead Maintenance Engineer

Location: Padworth, Reading, Berkshire

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum + benefits

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

What you’ll do:

As the Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maximising throughput of the facility by managing the day to day maintenance of all plant and equipment at Padworth IWMF (Integrated Waste Management Facility) including MRF / IVC / T/S and 2 x HWRC.

You will be responsible for implementation and the administration of planned preventative maintenance requirements, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable plant operation including maintaining and compliance of statutory inspections. Management and coordination of equipment maintenance – planned breakdowns and overhauls within strict budgets and management and control maintenance of subcontractors in line with the company policy and procedure.

As the Lead Engineer you will delegate as well as complete work for PPM on a daily basis to relevant and fully trained people, direct and coordinate all aspects of the facility maintenance operations, liaising with internal & external Customers i.e. Operations Manager and Operational Staff.

You will implement all policies that are delivered to the business and ensure that all new systems are adhered to and implemented, ensuring compliance with the company’s Quality and Environmental Management System and Health and Safety Policies.

Where you’ll work

Their Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) at Padworth is designed to significantly improve recycling and composting rates in West Berkshire, improve management of waste and meet the statutory targets that have been set.

The qualifications you will need

To enable you to carry out this role you will possess a City and Guilds, Advanced craft, NVQ level 3 or BTEC ONC in Engineering plus a formal qualification in maintenance and/or a recognised formal apprenticeship, background and training in both Mechanical & Electrical engineering preferable.

The experience you will need

You will have experience and a thorough in an MRF / IVC / T/S and HWRC processing manufacturing, production industry, possessing experience of hydraulics, pneumatics and material handling equipment required.

You will have knowledge & experience of working with the mobile plant, understanding of maintenance strategy tools and planned preventative maintenance procedures and project management, with the ability to work to and implement of industry best practice.

You will be aware of electrical and mechanical safety systems and standards, application of Health and Safety Legislation including PUWER, Electricity at Work Regulations and have proven experience of working at a high level and be fully conversant with material handling equipment, screening/shredding equipment, preferably within the recycling environment.

Finally, you will have vast experience of practical experience within a maintenance process industry, preferably gained in a recycling environment, with knowledge and experience of low voltage power systems, an understanding of condition monitoring techniques and control systems and software (DCS/SCADA/HMI/PLC).
