We provide a range of legal advice to both private individuals and businesses across the region and nationally. We provide legal support that our clients require in order to achieve anything from their basic needs to their wildest dreams and everything in between. We specialize in Court of Protection, Deputyships, Family Law, Residential Conveyancing, Commercial Property, Litigation & Disputes and Wills, Trusts & Probate Services.

About the role:

The main purpose of the role will be to provide an efficient and effective legal secretarial support to the Litigation department in our offices in Penrith.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supporting and assisting Litigation fee earners as far as is possible.
  • Audio and copy typing for Litigation team.
  • Billing (Monthly or as required).
  • Processing all claims for client related expenses (obtain from fee earners on a regular basis) and personal expenses for members of the Litigation team.
  • Overseeing general administration for all Litigation files.
  • Organising client appointments and arranging meeting rooms.
  • Maintaining awareness of files so as to be able to take messages and update clients on the telephone as required.
  • General firm administration (preparing and posting chitties/maintaining internal registers/storage of deeds and documents etc).
  • Supporting Role.
  • To cover when reception staff are not available i.e. answering the door, making tea/coffee for clients/answering the telephone/scanning in documents etc.
  • To cover when Family and WTP legal secretaries are not available i.e. opening new files, completing chitties etc.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Good standard of education.
  • Litigation experience (2 to 3 years in legal secretary role).
  • Working knowledge of using Windows, Microsoft office, Word, Excel, Outlook and case management systems.
  • Knowledge of office procedures e.g. filing, photocopying.
  • Working knowledge of digital dictation systems.
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment.
  • Experience of working in a secretarial/administrative role.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to relate to a wide range of clients and manage their expectations.
  • Ability to handle difficult clients.
  • Good prioritisation and time management.
