The Council’s Property Services & Facilities Management Team is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated; customer focused Multi Skilled Trades Person to join the In-House Maintenance Teams Void property repairs team to help us achieve our vision.
About the role:
As a Multi Skilled Trades Person, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you are competent in a range of domestic building skills ranging from Joinery, domestic plumbing, patch plastering, tiling and general building.
An ideal candidate would have undertaken an apprenticeship or studies and gained a qualification to NVQ Level 2 in one of the areas of the building trade along with experience and competency in providing assistance in basic plumbing repairs, Joinery repairs, tiling, some elements of patch plastering and general building at an acceptable standard.
You will need to have the highest levels of customer care and have a cheerful and positive disposition along with having the desire to work with a friendly and committed team of staff helping whenever required to ensure the team achieves its goals and commitment to client.

The Company:
The Councils In House Maintenance Team is a successful trade based team, which comprises of 30 plus trade staff ranging from Electricians, Plumbers, Multi skilled tradesmen, Multi skilled Joiners, Builders, Plasterers, M&E Engineers and Labourers who carry out maintenance repairs on our social housing properties and public buildings across the borough of Harrogate.
The In House Maintenance Team has been established now for over 10 years and has a successful track record for maintaining the Councils housing stock providing a friendly and professional service which is customer focused and commercially driven for success.
Requirements for role:
Experience of working in social housing or public buildings would be an advantage however is not essential but customer care and being a team player with a positive attitude is essential in promoting the image of the Council and should be demonstrated at all times and forms an essential part of this role.
- A full driving licence is required and the successful applicant will be required to provide an emergency repair service outside of office hours on a rota with other operatives, which will incur additional income on top of the publicised salary.
- A trade based qualification.
- Be able to follow and carry out instructions given by management staff and when required work on their own initiative.
- Basic IT Skills and good communication skills.
- Able to provide assistance to a good standard across a multi skilled platform.
