Job Title: Policy/Programme Manager – Digital Ethics and Artificial Intelligence

Location: London

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum

Purpose:

This role will support the Head of AI and Digital Identity in delivering a successful programme of work and activities to ensure the organisation remains relevant, credible and influential in the AI and Digital Ethics community, debate and discussion. This role will build on their already established work in this area including the annual Digital Ethics Summit, now in its fourth year, and engagement with key bodies including the CDEI and Ada Lovelace Institute. In particular this role will be responsible for ensuring the organisation’s understanding, insight, foresight and views on ethical issues being raised by the development and use of emerging AI and other technologies, including facial recognition, remains up to date, responsive to events of the day and relevant to the public debate happening across the UK and EU.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an intellectually stimulating, fast-paced, high profile area. This role requires someone who can consider and analyse the short, medium and long term implications and impact on the UK economy, society and technology sector of development in AI and digital ethics and develop the overall narrative, messaging and policy recommendations that are responsive and reactive to technological development and shifting trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive the development, implementation and communication of the organisations’s thought leadership and policy recommendations on digital ethics
  • Become an active participant in the UK’s Digital Ethics community ensuring the organisations’s voice on issues of the day are relevant, credible and influential by building an external reputation and stakeholder relationships
  • Delivering value to member companies by leading the Digital Ethics Working Group and organising the annual Digital Ethics Summit
  • Support the wider work of the Data Analytics, AI and Digital Identity work programme
  • Grow their membership base in AI and Digital Ethics
  • Organise, run and support working groups and liaise with group members
  • Promote programme content through insights, opinions, social media and PR activities

About you:

Key competencies

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills including clear and concise oral and written communications
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and demonstrate efficient time management skills when completing multiple tasks within tight timescales
  • Highly motivated, organised and hard working with an eagerness to bring innovative and creative ideas to the programme
  • Ability to take on responsibility for key activities of the programme and be held accountable for actions and outcomes
  • Strong personal and professional integrity required to develop and maintain trusted relationships and ability to become a point of contact across the organisation

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of the current Digital Ethics and AI debate and discussion in the UK
  • Experience of work in a public affairs, advocacy and policy driven environment
  • Engagement with senior public policy and business leaders at board and CEO level Interest in current issues and trends in Digital Ethics, Data Ethics and AI

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of UK technology sector and UK Government Media and press experience
  • Experience of trade association procedures and activities

Interviews will take place virtually due to COVID-19.

This is a full-time role, reporting to the Head of Central Government Programmes, based at the Organisation’s London offices. This role profile is a guide to the work that is required but does not form part of any contract of employment and may change from time to time to reflect changing circumstances.
