Job Title: Production Planner/Estimator

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire, UK

Salary: Depending on experience

Working Hours: 8:30am – 17:00pm Mon-Fri

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Company: Seddon Boxes is a small family-run packaging company, specialising in manufacturing rigid presentation boxes and jigsaw puzzles.

The role:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to enable the business to achieve delivery targets, as well as helping to improve operational organisation, cost, and efficiencies.
  • Initially the job role will focus on the implementation and maintenance of a production planning system, after which the role will develop to include assistance in producing quotations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Schedule work for production, issuing a weekly production plan.
  • Plan and prioritise manufacturing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
  • Review and update production plans based on downtime or material delays.
  • Determine running hours, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand.
  • Analysis of manufacturing data to provide reports on production capacity.
  • Maintaining a clear oversight of material availability and costs.
  • Maximise customer service level via effective communication with the Account Managers and Office Administration.
  • Drive improvements in demand planning processes, including systems solutions.
  • Measure and report conformance to production plans to enable the business to maintain customer service level.
  • Monitor manufacturing KPI’s.
  • Gaining an understanding of job forecasting and material costs in order to produce quotations.
  • Assign operators and other warehouse staff to particular production operations.

The Candidate:

  • Proven experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Organised, detail oriented, methodical and with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Excel.
  • Broad knowledge of forecasting, product distribution, inventory control and production capacity.
  • The ability to work flexibly under pressure, prioritise own workload and work on initiative.
  • Able to remain calm, patient and polite in challenging situations.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills with the ability to confidently relay information to colleagues.
