Job Title: Strength, Conditioning & Athletic Performance Coach and Boarding Assistant

Location: Ware, Hertfordshire

Salary: £17,000 additional benefits include free accommodation, free meals and a free laundry service during term time

Also within easy access is London Stansted airport, which is a 20-minute drive.

The Role

St Edmund’s requires a committed and enthusiastic Strength, Conditioning and Athletic Performance Coach to lead, plan and implement Strength and Conditioning programmes for the College Aspiring Athlete Programme and sport-specific academy groups to be delivered in the gym, as well as any field-based training. This person will lead all physical screening, functional movement assessments and testing of students, including all Scholarship assessments. As well as Implementing Strength and Conditioning training within the Prep School, and offer a Prep School Aspiring Athlete Programme, in line with the Prep School Director of Sport’s goals for the physical development of Prep School Students.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead, plan and implement Strength and Conditioning programmes for the College Aspiring Athlete Programme and sport-specific academy groups to be delivered in the gym, as well as any field-based training.
  • Lead all physical screening, functional movement assessments and testing of students, including all Scholarship assessments.
  • Implementation of Strength and Conditioning training within the Prep School, and offer a Prep School Aspiring Athlete Programme, in line with the Prep School Director of Sport’s goals for the physical development of Prep School Students.
  • Maintain detailed data reports for every Aspiring Athlete and Scholar, to formally monitor and review individual workloads using a variety of monitoring methods and regularly update the Director of Sport and Parents.
  • All games afternoons.
  • Ability to assist in the teaching, coaching and umpiring in Rugby/Football/Cricket/Tennis/Athletics/Netball/Hockey/Swimming where needed.
  • 1 boarding evening duty every fortnight.
  • 1 boarding weekend duty every half term.

Ideal candidate

  • Good (Honours) Degree in Physical Education/Sport Science.
  • Strength and Conditioning Qualification
  • The ability to assist in the teaching and coaching of either Netball or Hockey or the ability to assist in the teaching and coaching of either Rugby, Cricket or Football.
  • Commitment to boarding school life.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
