Job Title: Revenues and Benefits Assessment Officer

Location: London

Salary: £25,000 to £30,000+ per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Role Overview:

The Revenues & Benefits Assessment Officer position is a permanent role whereby you will be responsible for processing, administering and managing Housing Benefit, Council Tax and welfare benefit (PIP, ESA, Universal Credit) applications for a caseload of tenants. You will be playing an important role in the organisation and integral to its continuing success.

You will contribute towards and advance the overall purpose, values, success and growth of the organisation, demonstrating autonomy and collaboration skills to inspire confidence in all stakeholders. You are responsible for running the R&B Department in its entirety to ensure that it operates seamlessly, efficiently and effectively to optimal level and strive to exceed internal and external customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain and keep up-to-date the data in the company’s customer relationship property management system whilst adhering to the principle of ‘integrity of data’
  • Overseeing and managing the Duty & Benefits Officer who is there to assist with completing DWP welfare benefits applications
  • To ensure that all Housing Benefit revenue is received in accordance to the correct periods, to deal with queries and proactively resolve issues as they arise
  • Promote best practices and adherence to company policies and procedures by staff
  • To keep track of and chase tenants for their rent and service charge and ensure aged receivables are kept to a minimum

Key Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Minimum of three years’ experience and knowledge in Housing Benefit and ideally in welfare benefits such as ESA, PIP, Universal Credit and conversant with legislative changes
  • Exceptional organisation and tidiness skills
  • Experience in credit control and debt chasing
  • Experience of working with caseloads of clients
  • Excellent numeracy, IT and business writing skills
  • Able to analyse data and compile reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate appropriately with people at all levels and capacities
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative to find solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise a varied workload
