Job Title: Salvage and Disposal Specialist

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Salary: £25,000 per annum

Job Type: Full time, Permanent (37.5 hours Monday to Friday)

The Company is the UK’s leading incident management and roadside services company, they cover a range of clients in the public and private sectors, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from their operations centre in Huddersfield.

They have acquired extensive experience of managing the most complex of recoveries, including police incidents, HGV’s with dangerous chemicals and incidents involving livestock transporters involved in road traffic collisions. They work closely alongside Highways England and a number of police forces across the UK.

They are looking for a highly conscientious, self-starter who can demonstrate a strong understanding of the insurance and salvage industry to join their vehicle storage and disposal team. The role is to work on their Highways England and Police recoveries contract.

The Role:

The purpose of this newly created role is to identify additional value created from each disposal (for vehicles, loads and property) by identifying the most appropriate and cost-effective solution and process.

You will review the existing process and procedures to identify improvements and best practices, implementing changes to produce more effective and efficient solutions.

Job Duties:

  • Provide an excellent customer experience through building relationships with customers, key contacts and suppliers
  • Liaise with customers, insurance companies, independent assessors and recovery operators regarding disposal of vehicles, load and property, resolving any problems, complaints or queries
  • Arrange disposal of vehicles that are beyond economical repair in line with KPI’s whilst mitigating the cost to clients and customers
  • Understand the effect of these activities on other areas of the business and take action to maximise efficiency and return, supporting other business areas when required
  • Generate reports ensuring the accuracy of data and valuation of vehicles
  • Liaise with the disposal team to keep them updated and informed of progress and investigating and resolving any ongoing problems, complaints and queries
  • Efficient planning and prioritisation of time to ensure accurate and speedy completion of tasks
  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues
  • Actively look for continuous improvements to own performance and the performance of the team
  • Report on performance of the salvage operator(s), including any risks, issues, concerns or opportunities that could have an impact on the business
  • Implement and manage an on-going audit regime of salvage operator(s) to evidence compliance to agreed procedures and confirm that best value is being provided to them and their clients
  • Conduct negotiations on total loss and agree terms directly with third party customers
