Job Title: Site Installation Team Leader

Location: Matlock

Salary: up to £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + overtime

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (40h minimum) – flexibility required as the workload varies considerably and at times overtime working is inevitable. An element of the working week may be spent in the workshop

Holidays: 20 days + statutory Bank Holidays, increasing over time to a max of 25

This vacancy is for a busy, successful company based on the edge of the Peak District. They specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of contemporary, bespoke, high end architectural metalwork products primarily in mild steel, stainless steel & glass. Supplying regional and national contracts up to £200K to both private clients and their large repeat customer base in the construction sector, they punch above their weight to continue to develop a reputation of delivering cost effective imaginative ideas, with a high standard of workmanship, to tight deadlines, accompanied by great levels of customer service.

Due to an on-going expansion process they are looking to recruit experienced, hands on, full time Site Installation Supervisor to join their small team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with managing director in regards to site progression, product quality and performance of personnel on site. Establishing and managing lines of communication between site and managers in an organised manner
  • Careful and concise coordination when overseeing the allocation of labour including sub-contractors on site, Identifying and utilising the site installation skills of yourself and others to maximise installation efficiency of the business
  • Have clear knowledge of correct working and safety practices, ensuring that you conform to all the latest health & safety & employment legislation, leading by example, you will act responsibly and safely at all times to promote a positive safety culture
  • Take pride in accuracy and attention to detail, taking responsibility for the quality of work produced on site, ensuring all work is completed in line with approved drawings and specifications and meeting or exceeding the customers quality expectations
  • You will lead a small team to achieve specific goal, or, on occasion, work individually on site surveys & visits
  • You will accept, evolve and endorse the work plans, working to tight deadlines to ensure the product and service is delivered on time as per the construction programme
  • Resolve on site problems with managers in a timely and cost effective manner, whilst keeping and returning effective records of site activities

The Candidate:

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Thorough understanding of architectural metal work & glass products, processes and procedures
  • An extensive knowledge of correct working and safety practices on site
  • Be commercially and contractually knowledgeable
  • Proven experience of installation work on site covering either, secondary steelwork, metal staircases and balustrades, architectural metalwork and glass
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Demonstrate a sharp problem solving mind, and the ability of working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Be a great communicator at all levels
  • Extensive experience in the role of an installer which will have been within the steel fabrication or architectural metalwork industry
  • Experience in supervision will be extremely advantageous, as will any site fabrication ability

Qualification & Education:

Essential:

  • Good general education, with good levels of basic Maths and English
  • Valid CSCS card, PASMA, & IPAF or CPSCS
  • You will hold a full driving licence with a maximum of 3 penalty points

Desirable:

  • Good grades in Maths and English at GCSE standard
  • Apprentice trained in Fabrication/Welding
  • SMSTS, SSSTS and First Aid Certificates
  • TIG, MIG & or Stick Welding experience

Essential Attributes:

  • A significant level of fitness is required as this can be a very active position
  • Willingness to travel to various sites around the UK with overnight stays where required
  • Be a great communicator at all levels, always proactive and committed, with a professional, friendly manner and an ability to portray expertise in the role. Cool in a crisis, you will have a calm and imaginative approach to problem solving and an ability to be a fast learner
  • Be driven, setting high standards for yourself and others, and pay great attention to detail with a strong sense of aesthetics
