Job Title: SQL Development Consultant

Location: Nottingham and Home based

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience) + company benefits inc flexible working

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

About the Role:

As they build, migrate and run SAP solutions on Azure, they have an increasing demand MS SQL skills within the SAP services they provide, as well as for non-SAP systems that their customers want them to support along side the core SAP offerings.

With the acceleration in digital transformations and projects, they are seeking another highly capable and self-motivated Microsoft SQL specialist to join their team. This role is based in their Consultancy team and will support a growing list of exciting and active Microsoft Azure transformation projects requiring SQL project and support services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Discovery, Project definition, project planning and management, solution design, configuration and customisation of SQL instances and services
  • Integration and Application analysis and documentation of integrated systems
  • Provide expert advice on SQL functionality, Security, change management and other advisory services
  • Definition, Design and Migration solutions to customers based on best practice
  • Provide guidance on test plans and end-user documentation
  • Provide 3rd line customer support for SQL incidents and problems during and post hypercare

The successful Candidate will have/ be:

Essential

  • 4 -5 years experiences as a DBA/SQL DBA in a production environment
  • Experience of working with SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012/R2, 2014 is essential and knowledge of 2016 would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong skills for problem solving and analysis
  • Excellent attention to detail. Ideally, you will also have an IT related degree
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Previous experience working with Azure and Managing Azure SQL instances
  • Can demonstrate Technical leadership in an array of client-based projects, working with large amounts of data for web-based reporting, including data migration, database design and database optimisation.
  • Have a proven track record in Database administration, with a particular focus on performance tuning, indexing, clustering and replication for Microsoft SQL
  • Experience of working on-call and handling out-of-hours incidents
  • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
  • Ability to build detailed requirements from high level specifications
  • Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server and query resource usage and optimising
  • Windows Server knowledge and experience
  • Implementation and delivery experience, which should include at least one full project lifecycle

Desirable

  • Experience of Source Control Systems – such as Git Hub
  • Data Modelling / Data Cleansing / Data obfuscation and Automated Testing
  • Knowledge of SSAS and other integrated reporting tools such as Microsoft PowerBI
  • Microsoft O365 knowledge and experience
  • Microsoft SQL Server Certified
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Scripting in PowerShell/T-SQL or equivalent on any platform for API integration
  • Experience of working in an agile development environment and with knowledge of one of the agile frameworks e.g. Scrum, XP, Kanban
  • Experience with a range of modern relational database platforms e.g. Oracle
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and vendor variations
  • Skilled at optimizing large complicated SQL statements
  • Exposure to SAP systems
