Job Title: Stores Materials Controller

Location: Stanlow

Salary: Competitive

Positon: Full Time – 39 hours (Mon-Thu 8-5pm, Fri 8-4pm)

Job Role:

A key duty of this role is to keep track of what is available in inventory. The store-person must monitor current stock levels to decide if more should be ordered, as well as organising existing inventory so that it is easily and safely accessible.

To organise and manage the Stanlow site Stores Facility. To manage the issuing, receipt and recording of store stock material and the maintenance of appropriate stock levels though stock reconciliation, the issuing of purchase orders and the management of the goods receipt process. It is the duty of the store-person to find the best value inventory and keep an accurate record of usage.

Is responsible for accepting all deliveries of stock. This includes ensuring that deliveries are not damaged and that everything ordered is present and accounted for. To carry out or organise deliveries and collections from the site and within the site as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Stores:

  • Creation of purchase orders.
  • Recording of goods inwards and goods outwards. Receives, examines and records materials, supplies, tools and equipment. (To take delivery of goods into the site stores, to ensure that the goods are checked off against purchase orders in an accurate and timely manner. Check for damage and quantities and requesters are informed on deliveries.
  • Update stores inventory system to enable accurate stock levels.
  • Verify stock levels against expected and follow-up variances.
  • Ensure stock levels for re-ordering are established, accurate and appropriate. When re-order stock levels are reached place order for replacement materials.
  • To transfer goods received to either a defined location within the store’s facility or to a specific location on the site as required.
  • Put materials away in stores, after deliveries, in a FIFO order.
  • To get materials ready for collection when an order is pre-placed against a job.
  • Carry out stock checks when required.
  • Monitor usage of plant consumables, establish expected consumption levels and report excessive usage.
  • Keep the stores clean and tidy.
  • Manage internal mail.
  • To make or organise deliveries to and collections from locations within the Stanlow site.
  • To ensure the safe loading and unloading of materials onto vehicles.
  • Verify that any relevant delivery drivers know where materials are to be despatched.
  • Ensure correct cost of items are reflective of data base (CMMS)
  • Create and maintain store room SOP’s
  • Always striving to improve accuracy within inventory database and building BOM’s and allocating to appropriate Tag number.
  • Have a basic knowledge of Argent asset coding structure and demonstrate an ability to cross reference on documents.

Other:

  • To manage the control, release, inspection and testing of identified equipment, such as breathing apparatus, harnesses, lanyards, rigging equipment, block and tackle and rescue equipment. Ensure that equipment is returned and stored in an appropriate condition.
  • To unlock/lock the stores as required. To work late hours when circumstances dictate.
  • To foster constructive and collaborative working relationships with customers, suppliers and site departments.
  • To lead and participate in continuous improvement of the service.
  • To develop SOPs and disseminate to relevant personnel.
  • Other similar duties that may be required from time to time.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of site procedures and the company purchasing process.

Skills and Abilities:

  • A full driving licence.
  • Computer literate.
  • Methodical and organised, able to work on own initiative.
  • Be physically able to perform the work required.
  • Good listener and team player.
  • A good knowledge of maintenance equipment (Desirable).
  • A Forklift licence (Desirable).
  • Previous experience in stores essential (2 years)
  • Previous experience managing stock through a computerised management system.
  • Unloading goods in a quick and correct manner and checking them against the delivery notes and quality control.
  • Organising stock within the Warehouse.
  • Ensuring that stock is stored in a manner which allows quick access to items that are regularly required
  • Carry out stock counts when necessary.
  • Raising purchase orders to replenish stock levels where required.
  • Develop procedures and processes to improve Warehouse operations.
  • Analyse stock consumption for stock holding estimations.
