Job Title: Support Living Support Worker – Autism Support

Location: Swadlincote, Derby

Salary: £10.81 per hour

Job type: Full-time, Permanent. 37.5 hour per week contract to include evenings and weekends. We can also offer ‘Bank’ contracts.

The Role:

We are looking for Support Workers to join our team in the Swadlincote area to work with young adults to older individuals who have autism, learning disabilities, non-verbal communication and behaviours that are challenging in our registered care homes.

As a Support Worker you will provide high quality support to adults with autism and complex needs. Although showing some challenging behaviour, our residents enjoy a multitude of recreational activities therefore this role would suit a proactive and confident individual. This is a great opportunity to join an established team with a passion to support our adults with individually tailored programmes to develop their life skills.

The position would either suit an experienced Support Worker or someone looking to start their career within the Health and Social Care Sector as full training is provided.

Duties would include:

  • Supporting learning experiences at home and the wider community
  • Developing personal and practical skills to enhance independent living
  • Encouraging participation in daily activities, domestic duties and personal care
  • Reporting and recording key aspects of care
  • Managing complex and challenging behaviour

Key Skills Required:

  • Have or be willing to train to Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social Care (Adults) or equivalent
  • Able to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Due to the services having service vehicles it is highly desirable for applicants to hold a full valid driving licence and beneficial to have their own vehicle but not essential

  • Monday to Friday

Experience Required:

  • Autism Support: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certifications Required:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) (preferred)
  • UK Driving Licence (Manual) (preferred)
