Job Title: Technical Support Engineer

Location: Due to COVID-19 we are all currently working remotely & flexibly. Ideally candidates will be within commutable distance of York, which is where our head office is, close to the University, commutable via rail & bus, with on-site parking. Our Customer Success team have a Victoria London base.

Salary: £35k – £45k, plus exciting & competitive benefits

About the role:

This role is part of the Customer Success team, a strong team of experienced professionals and engineers, developing and growing our new product. The product uses the latest technologies to deliver a world-class end-user experience, all delivered through a JavaScript based Single Page Application, easy to use with a strong collection of functionality, features and scalability.

This multi-faceted role involves help desk support, problem and incident management, monitoring, deployment and configuration. Over the next 12 months, we plan to migrate aspects of our hosting to Azure and Linux, so ideally you will benefit from a blend of skills in Azure, Linux, as well as Windows Server to support our existing environments. The role will also involve technical discussions and planning for new projects. It requires strong customer engagement skills, a great working attitude, a user-focused perspective and an appreciation for modern web and database technologies.

Key duties:

  • Supporting and configuring our application and associated technologies across multiple deployments in both cloud (Azure) and private data centres – e.g. Windows servers, Kubernetes (Linux), monitoring tools, virtual machines and database platforms
  • Maintaining and operating deployment pipelines to Azure and customer environments
  • Monitoring and responding to server issues and alerts, optimising performance and maximising uptime
  • Licensing, administration and support of internal tools such as Slack, GitHub, MSDN, Active Directory
  • Involvement in technical discussions with customers and partners in order to understand their environment, overcome technical challenges, and plan for new projects and deployments
  • Working closely with the customer success and engineering teams to investigate and resolve issues
  • Collaborating with customers and partners (and our own engineering team) to configure and support their own Hublsoft hosting environments – including network architecture, monitoring, virtual machines, containerisation, database platforms

About you:

Key Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong technical acumen and diagnostic skills
  • Microsoft Azure administration, ideally with certification
  • Experience supporting both Windows Server and Kubernetes (Linux)
  • Environment and application monitoring, ideally with knowledge of Elastic Stack (ELK)
  • Containerisation, with experience of Kubernetes and Docker Hub
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge of Terraform or similar
  • Agility, composure and a commitment to excellent customer service
  • Strong communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • The ability to learn and use the Hublsoft application from a user perspective
