Job Title: Ticketing Assistant

Location: Hampton Court Palace, London

Salary: £19,525 per annum (pro rata)

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time (Part Time and Casual positions also available)

The organisation is the independent charity responsible for the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House – Whitehall, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle. They help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

They have permanent vacancies at Hampton Court Palace for those interested in being part of an experienced team who take pride and care delivering 5 star visitor service to hundreds and thousands of visitors from the UK and around the world.

Role Overview:

As a member of the team, you will need to be flexible, punctual, engaging and memorable with our visitors, helping in the fast paced areas that you will be required to work in. Remembering that they want to bring the past into the visitors present. Giving them a day to remember!

You will also need to demonstrate commitment in maximising income from all areas. These being ticket sales, donations, gift aids, guide book sales and memberships.

In addition to all of the above, you will be asked to queue manage, including managing visitor flow, particularly on busy days, and areas that experience high visitor activity, such as entry into the Magic Garden and Maze. You will also be trained in the running of their on and off site Palace car parks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to cash handling procedures
  • All ticketing and till procedures
  • Retrieving online bookings
  • Aware of all security procedures

The successful Candidate will have/ be:

  • A love for working with other people
  • Experience of delivering a very high standard of visitor service
  • Some basic I.T skills
  • Sales or Retail experience
  • Confident and capable of working with high volumes of people in a fast paced and high profile work place
  • GCSE (or the equivalent)

Ideally you will also have:

  • Experience with EPOS ticketing system
  • Cash handling
  • Language skills
  • Safeguarding awareness

Other things you need to know:

Full time contract:

  • Summer hours – 9.15 to 18.15 each day
  • Winter hours – 9.15 to 16.15 each day
  • Both will include working weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Occasional evening work may be required

Part time contract:

  • Summer hours – 10.00 to 16.00 each day
  • Winter hours – 10.00 to 16.00 each day
  • Both will include working weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Occasional evening work may be required
