Job Title: Trainee Buyer

Location: Poole, Dorset

Salary: £20,250 to £22,250 per annum depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (8:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday)

The Company, founded in 1988, is a specialist in natural and smoke ventilation systems and have been importing, manufacturing, supplying, installing and commissioning smoke ventilation systems for over 30 years for a variety of projects of all shapes and sizes.

Job Role:

The Company is seeking a trainee buyer to work at their offices in Poole. The ideal candidate may have some experience in a purchasing department, or a strong administration background, with the desire to progress in purchasing. This role would suit someone who has just started their CIPS Level 2 / Level 3 course or is keen to grow within a busy procurement department.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Order Placement
  • Sourcing the most affordable materials for the company’s manufacturing process
  • Monitoring delivery times to ensure that they are on time
  • Chasing order confirmations and updating orders
  • Matching supplier invoices with the goods received notes
  • Other associated ad hoc duties as required

This is a general outline of the position and the role is expected to evolve and change over time as knowledge and experience is gained.

  • Team working skills as well as being able to work independently
  • Willing to seek help when necessary

Experience

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook) (Required)
  • Purchasing experience, ideally within either an Electronics or Engineering Company (Desired)
  • Commercial awareness (Desired)
  • The ability to understand technical data (Desired)
  • Sage 200 experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided (Desired)
  • A good understanding of Stock Control (Desired)
