Job Title: CNC Milling Setter / Operators

Location: Yeovil

Salary: £25 – £30k (depending on experience)

An experienced Miller is required to work on an assortment of materials in batches or one-offs. You will be responsible for modifying OEM parts to suit the conversion of base vehicles to allow wheelchair access.

Working closely with the R&D department on new conversions, special one-offs along with mainstream production to ensure a constant flow of components to the factory.

Candidates for the Setter roles need to be able to work on their own but also play a team leader role in supporting operators to run machines and check parts and ensure that components are manufactured to the drawings and within tolerance. The setters must also be able to multitask across a number of machines and be proactive to ensure components meet quality requirements, working closely with QA.

Key Duties:

The setter positions are suitable for someone with a significant record of accomplishment in CNC milling or turning complex parts, ideally with some experience of plastics. They will be used to supporting others and taking responsibility for the quality of work.

Key Responsibilities for Setters:

  • Maintenance, setup and operation of equipment
  • Understanding ISO and MIL specifications
  • Creation of CNC programs for Protrack Mill
  • Adjusting established programs with minimal supervision
  • Selecting and adjusting tooling as needed with minimal supervision
  • Inspecting and measuring parts to ensure conformity to specified tolerances
  • Performing cleaning operations to keep work area machinery maintained

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in CNC Machining and Manual Milling / Turning
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Organised
  • Attention to detail
  • Punctual and a positive can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of XYZ 3500 CNC Milling machines preferred
  • CNC Turning or Milling experience
  • Willingness to learn and progress
