Job Title: Head Chef

Location: Ormskirk

Salary: £25,000 – £33,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Experienced Head or Sous Chef with a dynamic personality running a busy kitchen delivering quality food across restaurants and events required to join established Restaurant.

The Head Chef will manage a team of Chef’s across three kitchen and be responsible for delivering world class food within budget for The Members Bar, The Scullery Restaurant and all Events.

The Head Chef is a Department Manager and reports to the F&B Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Operate the kitchen within the approved budget while maintain the required gross profit
  • Organise and manage the work of the kitchen staff together with setting weekly and monthly tasks around the needs of the business together with setting the department rotas
  • Maintain our current five star hygiene rating and work towards achieving industry recognitions and awards
  • Continually improve and develop menus and food processes to achieve a high standard of food quality and presentation whilst considering customer needs
  • Ensure the company brand standards are always maintained within the kitchen
  • Be a prominent and key figure within the kitchen to maintain standards
  • Approve and “polish” dishes before they reach the customer
  • Ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained at all times
  • Support and develop the standards, training and skill set of the kitchen team
  • Be fully in charge of hiring, managing and training kitchen staff
  • Be a proactive member of the food & beverage department

Key Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Food Hygiene Level 3
  • Health & Safety Certification by recognised authority
  • BTEC in professional cookery
  • City & Guides diploma in cookery
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Able to control a budget and work with figures
  • Able to work under pressure and make quick decisions
  • Able to stay calm and overcome any food production problems

Skills

  • Poses high levels of creativity around food preparation and presentation
  • Comfortable in working within a fast-paced multi-disciplined kitchen
  • Display strong leadership skills to motivate and organise the kitchen team
  • Apply good business acumen with precision as part of your decision making
