Job Title: Installation Technician with C+E (Class 1) driving licence

Location: Milton Park, Abingdon

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 p.a. (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Are you a C+E driver based within one hour’s drive of their location and looking for a new challenge? Do you have practical mechanical or electrical skills and are keen to develop an interesting specialist career?

If so, this unique opportunity could be for you! They are looking for a professional C+E driver with practical electrical or mechanical skills who is eager to develop a specialist career in a respected high-tech logistics and medical installation company.

The Role:

The role involves working in small teams on specialist projects with responsibility for safely transporting and installing high value medical equipment in hospitals and private clinics throughout the UK and Ireland, with occasional European travel. You must be able to follow floor plans and technical specifications, measure accurately, use power tools confidently and to think on your feet; finding solutions to problems as they arise.

A professional approach is essential as is the ability to remain calm under pressure, communicating effectively with colleagues, project managers, technical support and clinical staff as required. The ability to document events accurately and clearly is required as some report writing is necessary.

Your working pattern will be five days out of seven and you should expect to be away from home for up to four or five nights each week, depending on the location and nature of the installation work. Projects are frequently assigned at short notice therefore this role requires significant flexibility and weekend working is a regular feature as deliveries are often scheduled on these days.

This role would ideally suit someone with practical skills who is looking to develop their career by undertaking training on the job and completing formal certification in the role to achieve progression. Once fully qualified, Lead Technicians have the added responsibility of leading the installation projects whilst training and supervising newer team members.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A clean Class 1 (C+E) licence
  • Practical mechanical / electrical / engineering background
  • Good IT and problem solving skills
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • A clear understanding of Health & Safety requirements
  • Valid passport

A professional attitude is essential together with good written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a small team and be able to follow set process closely after training.

Due to the nature of the work a DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.
