Job Title: Junior Web App Developer (React, Apps, PHP, Full Stack)

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £22,000 – £26,000 per annum

Position: Full Time, Permanent

Junior web app and mobile app developer: The company is a well-established web and app development agency based in Birmingham’s up-and-coming Jewellery Quarter. You will be working on a wide range of medium-sized web app, portal, and mobile app projects for a variety of the company’s clients across a range of different sectors. The company has a culture of learning, team support, exploring new technologies, frameworks, and ways of working. The company recognises that the right person for this role is a candidate who enjoys working in this way too.

Job Role:

The company is looking for a Junior Developer to join their team. You’ll be working on web app and mobile app projects ranging from innovative start-ups looking to launch market-changing new products, through to established businesses seeking to grow, or make process improvements, by implementing new, digital app-strategies.

Most of the projects you will work on will involve programming using React or React Native JavaScript frameworks.

The company currently build their back-end mostly using PHP (occasionally NodeJS) on a framework such as Laravel and Yii2. The front-end is built using the familiar HTML/CSS/JS stack but on top of a front-end framework, usually React + Redux, Angular, Bootstrap, Semantic, Ant etc.

Mobile app projects are also built on web technologies, usually React Native, but sometimes Cordova too, to allow apps to be built and maintained using JavaScript. Projects are version controlled using GIT.

To be considered you will need:

  • To consider your skill level to be that of a junior developer
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP (or NodeJS) development skills
  • Must understand MVC programming principles
  • Experience using a web development framework (front or back end)
  • Experience developing responsive websites or web apps
  • Demonstrable personal project experience counts if you lack commercial experience

The company understands that everyone’s skills and specific experience are different, so they’re more interested in you being able to prove that you can learn quickly and demonstrate your coding ability.

Your safety is the Company’s number one priority. Once employed, you will temporarily work from home until the company decides it is Covid-safe for the team to return to work in its Jewellery Quarter offices. This may require several months of home working. Interviews will also be conducted in a Covid-secure way.

So, if you have a small amount of experience (commercial or personal) working with some form of web app or mobile app framework and are comfortable that you can quickly learn new technologies, then please apply.
