Job Title: Payroll Officer

Role Overview:

They’re currently looking for a Payroll Officer to provide accurate and timely data input for the company’s payroll, time allocation and other related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll and time allocation data
  • Prepartion, processing and maintaining data base for BACS payments and payrolls
  • Assist with investigations arising from payroll processing reports
  • Process calculations for payments of arrears and average earnings requests
  • Deal with error corrections; process manual paybills
  • Support processing of Income Tax forms P11D and P45
  • Preparation of statutory returns such as VAT, PAYE, CIS scheme, and national insurance contributions, corporation tax etc.
  • Responsible for the provision of necessary figures for status enquiries from outside bodies
  • Assist with supervision and training in all aspects of payroll and related systems
  • Ensure all aspects of payroll procedure, including staff confidentiality, and audit are adhered to
  • Ensuring only valid data is processed and is accurate for all aspects of pay details
  • Assist with the data inputting as and when required to maintain current use of these records
  • Assist with other activities within the finance department, such as purchase ledger input at peak times

About you:

  • Good organisational skills and ability to work unsupervised to strict timescales
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Above average computer literacy skills, in particular the use spreadsheets
  • Previously worked in a SME and busy payroll department with pay being dependant upon the submission of timesheets
  • Ability to work alone as well as part of a team
