Job Title: Shop Assistant

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent – 40 hours per week working 5 out of 7 operational days of the week between 7am and 6pm.

Purpose of the Role:
To replenish fruit, vegetables and other products, rotate stock, merchandise, offer customers great service, to pack customers products correctly, use the till system and handle payments and deal with any queries or complaints.
Responsibilities:
- To greet customers politely and offer the very best service to each and every customer
- Answering enquiries from customers about the products in the shop including ingredients and methods of food production if requested
- Ensuring stock on the shelves is rotated according to date and use by and sell by dates are checked
- Dealing with any queries or problems to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
- Packing customers purchases correctly and efficiently
- Dealing with payments, operating the tills and credit card machine to ensure payments are correctly made and recorded
- Ensure that all aspects of environmental health, health and safety, food, fire and other legislation is adhered to in the retail areas of the Shop. Promote culture where safety and food hygiene is a priority
- Ensure that all shop tasks and procedures are completed daily
- Any other appropriate duties which may be added from time to time
The successful Candidate will have:
- Excellent Customer service skills
- Positive attitude – need to be happy to help
- Excellent people skills especially the ability to work well as part of a busy team
- Ability to effectively present shop products attractively and effectively and respond to questions from customers and staff
- Good at following policies and procedures
- Passionate about food
- Good oral communication skills
- Ability to cope with stressful situations in an effective and appropriate manner
- This is a physically demanding role, so a good level of fitness is required
