Job Title: Stock Manager

Location: Huntingdon

Salary: Competitive depending on experience

Job type: Permanent, Full time

This is an ambitious UK-based company with subsidiary operations in the USA, France, Germany and China. They supply materials which are used for research, development and specialised manufacturing applications within areas such as Healthcare, Industry, Communications, Academia and Defence.

The Role:

To ensure the best possible quality and service is delivered to internal and external customers whilst also contributing to the wider business success and driving the company strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:

Management of Processes

  • Ensure effective stock management to support the aims of the business in terms of quality, cost, speed, dependability, and flexibility within the following processes:
  • Receipt, inspection, labelling and storage of stock
  • Warehousing of bulk, consumables, and scrap metal
  • Dispatch of large items
  • Establish and manage regular cycle counts including conducting physical counts and reconciling with the management system
  • Ensure all stock records are kept updated
  • Establish and implement stock reporting (to cover stock value, stock accuracy, waste/write-offs, identification of runners, repeaters, strangers to senior management identifying trends, anomalies) and recommend courses of action
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and transport companies as and when required in a timely way and handle any concerns
  • Ensure the health and safety of all employees and safe operation of all equipment
  • Ensure the effective use of warehouse space and layout to optimise flow of processes
  • Monitor scrap/wastage and propose corrective actions to improve efficiency

People Management and Leadership

  • Ensure the efficient running of the department by providing day to day management of all staff under the remit of this role
  • First point of contact for all general employees’ HR concerns
  • Management of workloads, work flow and staffing levels to ensure productivity
  • Agreeing targets and objectives in alignment with organisational strategy and monitoring and managing staff performance against these regularly in both an informal and formal manner
  • Fostering team spirit by encouraging, supporting, coaching and motivating all staff
  • Recruitment, training and development of all employees directly under supervision
  • regular communication to all staff through informal and formal channels such as team and one to one meetings

Continual Improvement

  • Proactively look for process improvements with a methodical and consistent approach. Take responsibility and ownership in problem investigation and resolution.
